Virtual Walk and Chalk Art Event

The Ultimate Social Distancing Sign of Support

AKRON, OH (May 1, 2020) – In response to the novel coronavirus, OPEN M has moved their Walk fundraiser to a virtual event. The Walk is an annual event that raises nearly $20,000 to support the mission of OPEN M; providing pathways out of poverty by feeding the hungry, caring for the sick, and strengthening the community.

Community members are encouraged to take a walk any time during the month of May and chalk words of encouragement along their path. The purpose of the event is to raise funds and awareness for OPEN M while encouraging other members of the community.

“Our community is grieving. COVID-19 has had a profound impact on our world but this event is an opportunity to share encouragement and inspiration during such a difficult time,” said Jess Rist, Development Manager of OPEN M.

Participants who share their chalk art and tag OPEN M on social media (@OPENMMinistry) will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a prize.
